THE CRONE STORIES

Today's story is Lisa's.

Lisa has been doing hair for twenty-two years and raising her son mostly on her own. She has also always run hot. So when perimenopause arrived, it hid inside something she had carried her whole life.

Nobody sat her down. Nobody explained it. She found the word herself, alone, the way so many of us did.

If you have ever explained your own body away, called it stress, or a bad year, or just the way you have always been, this one is for you. It is about what it costs to keep pouring when there is nothing left, and about the sentence she finally said out loud in the middle of the hardest season of her life.

I met Lisa years ago, when I was the admin at a hair salon and she was one of the stylists behind the chair. You feel her before you really meet her.

A gentle note. This one touches on a hard season with her teenage son, on getting sober, and on living with PTSD. Nothing is graphic, but come to it when you are ready.

THIS WEEK'S SITTING

The closing meditation from Lisa's episode is also up on its own, if you want the quiet without the story first. This one does not sit with the emptiness. It spends its ten minutes filling.
