THE CRONE STORIES

Today's story is Kimberley's.

Kimberley has spent her life holding rooms together with sound. A choir director, a teacher, a minister's wife. A woman who learned early that the decent thing to do was keep quiet and hold it in.

Then her body stopped cooperating.

If you were raised to be the good girl, if you got very good at swallowing the thing you wanted to say, if you have ever wondered what all that holding actually costs, this one is for you. It is about what the body does with everything we hand it, and about a woman who spent years trying to fix something before she thought to ask what it was for.

I have known Kimberley most of my life. I did not know she was carrying this.
