Hi Friend
There is a season in a woman’s life that almost nobody talks about well.
It begins somewhere between forty-two and fifty-five. It does not have one name. Perimenopause is part of it. Menopause is part of it. The hormonal piece is the easiest piece to point at and the easiest piece to be sold something for. The bigger thing is harder to name.
It is the thing where the woman you were performing being for thirty years is no longer available to you. It is the thing where you wake up one morning and you cannot remember why you said yes to half of what you said yes to.
There is real grief in that. There is also a door. I have spent the last 4 months sitting with women who are walking through that door. Eight of them have agreed to let me tell their stories. Some are using their own names. Some are not. All of them have read their story before anyone else.
What I have noticed is the same thing over and over. The women I talk to are not asking for advice. They are asking to be told that what they are going through is real. That what they are losing is worth grieving. That what they are becoming is allowed to look different from anything they have been before.
This podcast is for that. The first episode goes live in 8 days. It is just me, telling you what this is and why. If you are inside this season right now, please come listen.
You may just hear yourself in some of these stories. I am also still looking to hear other women’s stories. You can send me your info if you would like to be on The Crone Stories in the fall of 2026. https://www.karenamy.com/tell-me-your-story
In love, light and laughter
